Actor Johnny Depp appeared to threaten US President Donald Trump during a speech at the Glastonbury Festival

“Can you bring Trump here?” he asked the audience, as he introduced a screening of his film The Libertine.

After receiving jeers from the crowd, he added:

“You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

“I want to clarify,” he added, “I’m not an actor. I lie for a living [but] it’s been a while. Maybe it’s about time.”

‘Just a question’

The star acknowledged that his comments – which may have been a reference to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by actor John Wilkes Booth in 1865 – would prove controversial.

“By the way, this is going to be in the press and it’ll be horrible,” he said. “It’s just a question, I’m not insinuating anything.”

  1. I think it was funny and brings in a Booth joke, be honest with yourselves at least… is Trump doing a good job ? Heck… I get the impression he didn’t want the job after three or so days in office and I don’t have a dog in the fight, I could care less who is voted in as our President, as it doesn’t affect my life in the slightest. I have lived through six C-i-Cs and none have had a direct or indirect impact on my life.

Coming from a Hollywood actor who doesn’t have a problem beating his wife, Depp’s comment don’t surprise me in the least. And the guy is weird enough without threatening to assassinate a president. Your impression of President Trump is based on what? I’ve not gotten the impression he didn’t want the job my impression is quite the opposite.
