Steve’s kids, Bindi, 19, and Robert, 14, have dedicated themselves (along with their mom, Terri) to continuing his mission. On February 4, 2018, Bindi shared rare footage of her dad talking about his passion for wildlife conservation and his hopes for Bindi and Robert continuing his legacy — and Steve’s words are so moving.

Bindi posted the emotional clip on social media, captioning it on Instagram:

My first time watching this footage was only a few days ago. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to describe the amount of emotion in my heart once the video ended. My dad. My superhero. I promise to do my best to make you proud and ensure your legacy lives on forever. A new chapter in our lives has begun as we embark on this journey with @animalplanet. There is so much on the horizon. We can’t wait to share our story as a family.

Fans loved the intimate footage of Steve talking about his beloved kids. “Oh my gosh… brought tears to my eyes… wow. Bindi and Robert, your Dad is looking down on you now SO proud,” one wrote on Instagram.

“Pass the Kleenex please. We miss you, Steve. The world shines less bright without you,” another commented.

It was announced in October 2017 that Bindi, Terri, and Robert would be bringing their wildlife conservation mission back to where it all started by returning to Animal Planet, the same network that aired Steve’s The Crocodile Hunter wildlife series in the 1990s and 2000s.
