11-year-old Texas Girl Found Strangled Stuffed Under a Bed in Pasadena

The father of an 11-year-old Texas girl whose strangled and sexually assaulted body was found stuffed underneath her bed on Saturday said she sent him an alarming message that morning.

Police Chief, Brueggar said the girl’s father had received a text from his daughter shortly after he left for work on Saturday morning, telling him someone was knocking on the door.

Brugger said that the father, Carmelo Gonzalez, repeatedly tried to contact his daughter, Maria Gonzalez, throughout the day. Upon returning home he found his daughter’s body wrapped in a trash bag and stuffed inside a laundry basket underneath her bed.

After failed attempts to reach his daughter, he called his brother and sister-in-law, who also lived in the same apartment complex. Around 1 pm, the police said Gonzalez asked them to go to the apartment and check on his daughter.

Gonzalez’s sister-in-law found the apartment door shut but unlocked. When she entered, Chief Brugger told reporters she thought things were out of place and quickly grabbed her husband to go inside with her.

Maria’s aunt and uncle could not find her anywhere inside the apartment, which prompted the father, Gonzalez, to then rush home from work.

“He immediately went home,” the police chief said.

“At this point, we do not have a suspect,” Chief Brugger said.
