A 31-year-old Cleveland mother ‘Kristel A. Candelario’ has been charged with the death of her 16-month-old daughter after allegedly leaving the child alone for eight days while she vacationed in Puerto Rico and Detroit, Michigan.
Candelario was arrested on June 18th after her arrest she told officers that she left her daughter “at home, all alone and unattended,” while she traveled to Detroit and then Puerto Rico.
Candelario worked for a local school district, returned from her vacation, and found her daughter Jailyn extremely dehydrated and unresponsive.
Cleveland police were called to Candelario’s home on June 16 and EMS at the scene pronounced the girl dead.
Authorities alleged that Jailyn’s playpen was filled with “soiled blankets and a bottom liner, saturated with urine and feces,” according to the affidavit.
