New York City police released the surveillance video that captured a vicious street corner mugging of a 15-year-old girl.
A group of teenage boys, according to reports, attacked the girl Thursday afternoon in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
“A 15-year-old female was approached by a group of individuals, and was punched and kicked to the ground and had her property removed,” police said Friday.
She was rushed to the hospital, treated for head trauma and later released, officials said. The attack was reportedly made in retaliation for a fight the victim had with another girl earlier in the day.
NYPD Brooklyn North Commanding Officer Jeffrey Maddrey called the video “sickening” in a tweet Friday morning.
“We cannot allow this behavior in our community,” he said.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) have charged five suspects with gang assault and robbery for their alleged connection to the beating Thursday of the 15-year-old girl in Brooklyn that was captured by a security camera.
The five boys had turned themselves in with their parents on Friday, The New York Post reported, but their names and ages were not made public.
The five suspects were still in custody as of Saturday evening, police said.
