On Saturday, the American Idol judge made her first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy. Perry, who’s expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom, was spotted in Melbourne, Australia, where she was rehearsing for an upcoming live performance.
In a colorful, form-fitting dress, the mom-to-be, 35, smiled while showing off her growing baby bump.
Katy Perry revealed she is pregnant in the music video for her new single, “Never Worn White,” which was released overnight Wednesday.
On Instagram Live, Perry said her pregnancy was the “longest secret” she’s had to keep, according to People magazine. In the same livestream, the Grammy-nominated “American Idol” judge said the baby is due over the summer, when she will also be releasing a new album.
She told viewers on her Instagram Live that she and Bloom are thrilled to be welcoming their first baby together soon. Bloom has a 9-year-old son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
“I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy,” Perry said. “It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music.”

She added that she needed to announce soon because it was getting increasingly hard to hide: “I had to reveal it at some point. It’s getting pretty obvious.”
Perry commented on her wedding plans in a new interview published last week, saying the marriage was more important than the ceremony to them. “I call myself a ‘bridechilla’ as opposed to a bridezilla,” Perry told Australia’s Stellar magazine. “Orlando and I are united with our approach. It’s not about the party, it’s about the coming together of people who will hold us accountable when things get really hard. Because it’s really great and then it’s really hard. Those are just the facts when you’re with someone who challenges you to be your best self.”
