Christina Applegate is openly discussing the difficulties associated with living with multiple sclerosis. In a recent “GMA” interview.

The actress discussed her struggles since receiving an MS diagnosis in 2021 and opened out to her fellow TV celebrity and MS champion.

“I live kind of in hell. I’m not out a lot, so this is a little difficult, just for my system. But of course, the support is wonderful, and I’m really grateful,” she said.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler, a Sopranos star who was originally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis over 20 years ago, joined Applegate for the Good Morning America interview.

“I’m never going to wake up and go, ‘This is awesome.’ I’m just going to tell you that. It’s just not going to happen,” she said. “I wake up and I’m reminded of it every day, so it’s not going to happen. But I might get to a place where I will function a little bit better. Right now I’m isolating, and that’s kind of how I’m dealing with it, by not going anywhere, because I don’t want to do it. It’s hard.”

The 75th Emmy Awards were held in January, and the crowd gave the Emmy-winning actress, who received a standing ovation during her rare public appearance.

“You’re totally shaming me with disability by standing up… it’s fine,”  Applegate joked with the audience.

In August 2021, Applegate first disclosed her diagnosis to the public. The 49-year-old actress tweeted the information at the time, stating, “Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a**hole blocks it.”

Multiple sclerosis is “a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system),” according to the Mayo Clinic.
