Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Monday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Woods, once the No. 1 ranked golfer in the world and winner of 14 major titles, has not played in a competitive tournament since withdrawing from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February after the first round because of continuing issues with his back.
Woods had fusion surgery in April his fourth surgery on his back in the past three years. He claimed last week that he hasn’t ‘felt this good in years’.
“I want to say unequivocally, I want to play professional golf again,” Woods said in a statement on his website on Wednesday.
“Presently, I’m not looking ahead. I can’t twist for another two and a half to three months. Right now, my sole focus is rehab and doing what the doctors tell me. I am concentrating on short-term goals.”
These revelations are the latest scandal to emerge in Woods’ career and it’s unlikely that he will ever return to top level golf.
