Michelle Carter Found Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter

A Massachusetts judge finds a 20-year-old woman accused of persuading her boyfriend to kill himself guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The verdict was announced Friday morning in the case of Michelle Carter.

During the trial dozens of texts were revealed that show Carter urging her boyfriend, Conrad Roy, to commit suicide.

Her defense lawyers portrayed her as a teen trying to help Roy while she needed help herself, and says she was on anti-depressants at the time.

The prosecution argued Carter was pressuring her boyfriend to take his own life with the desire to ultimately portray the grieving girlfriend.

In 2014 Roy committed suicide.

Carter faces up to 20 years in prison.

Words do matter!
