Police shoot black girl that is trying to attack another girl with a knife

CNN anchor Don Lemon is defending the police officer who shot and killed a 16-year-old girl who appeared to be trying to attack two other black girls with a knife.

The teen later identified as Ma’Khia Bryant knocked one girl to the ground and lunged toward the second girl with a knife. The knife is visibly seen by the officer and is visibly seen on the officer’s video.

Lemon defended officer Nicholas Reardon Wednesday night, noting that he was doing his job.

Immediately following the shooting there was a public outcry to rebuke the officer for fatally shooting the 16-year-old girl. Protests started almost simultaneously. Hence, isn’t anyone interested in knowing the facts and watching videos to see what exactly happened?

I NEVER side with Don Lemon (I’ll be nice and say I just don’t care for him one bit). However, I do agree with Lemon on this police shooting.

“People are anguished watching another video like this, and I get it. But even in our anguish, we cannot abandon the responsibility we have to be fair. And even while our hearts are hurting, we have to judge each incident based on what we see and the facts we know,” Lemon said.

“They roll up on the scene. They see people tussling around. Someone has a knife, and their job is to protect and serve every life on that scene. If they see someone who is in the process of taking a life, what is that decision, what decision do they have to make?” he added. “The other person’s life was in imminent danger. As you know, from the hostile environment training that we get on this job, and because of our proximity to law enforcement, that at a certain distance, a stabbing, a knife, can be much more lethal than a bullet. Especially if you get stabbed in the artery in the temple, somewhere that you’re going to bleed out.”

I was totally disgusted watching the video recordings of Derek Chauvin murdering George Floyd in front of a crowd of dismayed bystanders.

Those images and videos will never leave our memories. Hearing George Floyd pleading to breathe and getting comfort in calling out for his Momma will forever haunt me. It was so senseless.

I honestly believe George Floyd was sacrificed for no other reason than to prove to a crowd of bystanders that he ‘Chauvin’ could do what he damn well wanted to do and was making damn sure they knew it.

Chauvin can’t get enough time as far as I’m concerned.

However, Yes, it’s true that Ma’Khia Bryant was just a 16 years-old girl.

But she was also in the middle of attacking someone with a knife, potentially killing them. The officer came on the scene at the same moment and stopped another person from being killed. I honestly don’t see what else he could have done?
