Sunday’s 2024 Grammy Awards saw Celine Dion make an unexpected appearance despite her ongoing fight with incurable stiff-person disease.

The 55-year-old celebrity, who has given up singing due to health issues, was moved when she presented Album of the Year.

“When I say I’m really happy to be here, I really mean it,” Celine said onstage before presenting the nominees for Album of the Year. (She eventually handed off the award to Taylor Swift for her 2022 album Midnights.)

“Thank you all, I love you right back, you look beautiful,” said Dion to the cheering crowd. “When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart.”

“Those who have been blessed enough to be here, the Grammy Awards, must never be taken for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world,” she continued.

Even though the actress’s appearance was brief, fans were ecstatic to see her. But it won’t be long until the public can once more watch Dion on screen. She recently revealed that I Am: Céline Dion, a new documentary, will be available on Prime Video. It tells the story of her struggle to overcome stiff-person syndrome and her quest to return to performing on stage.

As the first artist to ever win album of the year four times, Taylor Swift ultimately made history by winning the gramophone for album of the year.
