Texas Roadhouse CEO Kent Taylor Dies by Suicide After Battling Post-COVID Symptoms 1

Texas Roadhouse founder and CEO Kent Taylor died by suicide last week after dealing with “unbearable” symptoms following a case of COVID-19, including tinnitus, the company and his family said in a joint statement.

His family said “After a battle with post-Covid related symptoms, including severe tinnitus, Kent Taylor took his own life this week,” the family said in a company-issued statement Friday. “Kent battled and fought hard like the former track champion that he was, but the suffering that greatly intensified in recent days became unbearable.

Taylor is survived by his parents, Powell and Marilyn Taylor; three children and five grandchildren. Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster said a small private service is planned this week.
