The actress, 63, announced the death of her 11-month-old nephew and godson, River William Stone, on Instagram Monday in a sweet video featuring home footage of the infant. The video is set to Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven.”
River’s death comes about a week before his first birthday in September.
“River William Stone,” Stone captioned the tribute. “Sept. 8, 2020 – Aug. 30, 2021.”

River is the son of Stone’s younger brother, Patrick Stone, and his wife Tasha, who provided a health update on Facebook prior to his death.
“This is the HARDEST thing I have ever had to post but I am BEGGING everyone and anyone who prays please pray HARD for River,” Tasha wrote Aug. 26. “He was life flighted to Children’s UPMC Pittsburgh last night/early morning and is not doing so well. He is in a coma currently and I am dying.”
Last Friday, Stone uploaded a distressing photo of her nephew in hospital revealing he was suffering from “total organ failure”. It’s not clear what led to River’s organ failure.
“My nephew and godson River Stone was found in his crib w total organ failure today,” she wrote at the time. “Please pray for him. We need a miracle.”
