Former Judge Belvin Perry Jr. told The Associated Press that the theory that makes the most sense to him now, based on the evidence presented at trial in 2011, is that Anthony accidentally used too much chloroform while trying to quiet Caylee, and the infant died.

Anthony was accused of killing Caylee in June 2008. Caylee was last seen alive one month before Casey Anthony finally reported her missing to the authorities. TIMELINE: Caylee Anthony Case Captivates Country
Caylee’s body was found months later in woods near the Anthony home, but authorities were unable to determine a cause of death. The prosecution team said Anthony dumped Caylee’s body there and tried to resume her normal life.
During the trial, evidence was presented that showed Anthony researched using chloroform, which was once used as an inhaled anesthetic during surgery.
Former Circuit Judge Belvin Perry Jr. said Wednesday in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel.
“There was a possibility that she may have utilized that to keep the baby quiet … and just used too much of it, and the baby died,” he said.
“As I’ve expressed, the only person that really knows what happened was Casey,” Judge Perry also stated.
