Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski confirm their engagement

The MSNBC personalities revealed their engagement to Vanity Fair in an interview for an article published just after their show ended Thursday morning. The engagement was first reported by the New York Post’s Page Six earlier Thursday and confirmed with MSNBC by The Associated Press.

Brzezinski told Vanity Fair that Scarborough proposed during a recent trip to France for Brzezinski’s 50th birthday, which was May 2. They were walking up a hill to a hotel bar in the coastal town of Antibes when Brzezinski said Scarborough got down on one knee, presented Brzezinski with an oval-shaped diamond ring and asked the question.

“Absolutely,” Brzezinski replied.

President Donald Trump and top adviser Jared Kushner reportedly offered to officiate “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski’s wedding.

Vanity Fair reported Thursday that according to Scarborough, the president suggested in January that the couple be married at the White House or Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.

“Jared interrupted and said, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve got my license. I could marry you,'” Scarborough told Vanity Fair.

“‘Why would you marry them? They could have the President of the United States marry them,'” Scarborough said Trump interjected.

Though Brzezinski dismissed the possibility of being married at the White House, it is unclear whether the offer would stand today.

The romance between the two hosts has been widely rumored for years, though they’ve shied away from publicly discussing it before announcing their engagement in Vanity Fair.
