Iowa Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix Caught On VIDEO Having An Affair
The top leader of the Iowa Senate resigned Monday after a website published video and photos showing the married lawmaker kissing a statehouse lobbyist
ORIGINAL STORY: A video posted online Monday appears to show Iowa Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix kissing a female lobbyist in a Des Moines tavern.
The Iowa Starting Line political website posted the 52-second video in which Dix, a Shell Rock Republican, and the woman sit next to each other on barstools, reportedly at the Waveland Tap bar in Des Moines. In the final seconds of the video, the woman leans over and she and Dix kiss.
The Starting Line report does not identify the woman by name, but describes her “as a lobbyist for various municipality groups.”
The incident occurred on March 1, according to Starting Line.
As a lobbyist, the woman’s professional responsibilities would include attempting to influence Dix on matters of public policy. As the leader of the Republican majority in the Senate, Dix controls what legislation comes up for debate. He is an 18-year veteran of the Legislature and is married with three children, according to his legislative biography.
“Effective at 2pm today, Bill Dix resigned his position as Majority Leader and State Senator. I believe he made the right decision for himself and for his district, but most importantly, I believe he made the decision in the best interest of his family,” Iowa Senate President Jack Whitver said in a statement.
Thanks for an interesting first day.
