Alexis Sharkey, a 26-year-old Instagram influencer, has been found dead in Houston, Texas.

The Houston Police Department shared that Alexis’ body was found in the 1000 block of Red Haw Lane on Saturday morning.

According to local station KHOU11, Alexis was last heard from on Friday evening and her husband, Tom Sharkey, told her mother, Stacey Clark Robinault, on Saturday morning that she was missing.

Her mother, Stacey Robinault, says she thinks her daughter’s death was an intentional act.

“I don’t know what happened but I do know it was not an accident,” Robinault said.

Robinault lives in Pennsylvania but said she’s touched by plans for a public memorial on Thursday in Houston. She said she last spoke with her daughter on Thanksgiving.

“I last spoke with her by text on Thanksgiving. We were just texting back and forth, ‘Love you, miss you.’ We were planning on when she was coming for Christmas,” Robinault said.

More from KHOU11:

She and her husband Tom had been married for almost a year and had moved to Houston in January.

“My world! My everything! I’m so lost right now! My one and only!” Tom wrote on Facebook.

But Tanya said the couple had issues.

“Recently, she opened up to us about it and divorce was being filed,” Tanya said. “She was a very private person. She didn’t share a lot about what was going on at home.”

Even with apparent problems at home, Alexis remained upbeat, according to Tanya.

“She was always happy, always had a smile on her face. A lot of people looked up to her. She was just very, very positive,” Tanya said. “I don’t know who could have done something like this to her.”

She said Alexis’s friends aren’t going to let this go.

“Whoever did this, we’re going to find them. We’re going to do everything it takes. So, everyone can put her to rest in peace,” Tanya said.

They’ve set up a account to help Alexis’s family in Pennsylvania pay for travel and funeral expenses.
