‘These refugees are Australia’s humanitarian crisis, not America’s. And if they don’t want them, why should we?’
Trump told Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull “no,” the United States wasn’t going to honour the deal Obama struck to take Muslim refugees off Australia’s hands. About 2,500 refugees went to Australia seeking asylum. They were put in detention cities with unsanitary conditions. The United Nations complained. Obama agreed to accept 1,250 of them.
Lost in liberals’ outrage is that many of the refugees that Australia wants to dump into the U.S. come from the Muslim-majority countries of Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Somalia, which are among the seven countries whose citizens are temporarily banned from entering the U.S. under Trump’s executive order. The list was produced by the Obama administration, which identified them as “countries of concern,” as reported by CNN.
During the 25-minute call with Turnbull, Trump reportedly yelled: “This is the worst deal ever.” According to press reports, Trump also accused Turnbull of trying to send the “next Boston bombers” into the U.S. Then Trump hung up.
Sounds perfectly reasonable. The audacity of Australia trying unload on us these nationals who — let’s face it — have a track record of blowing up and shooting Americans in acts of terrorism.
“Do you believe it? The Obama administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!” Trump tweeted.
Not only is the deal dumb, but there’s the left’s (over)reaction to Trump’s response. The liberal media howled that Trump was unhinged and could cause a “rift” between the two countries.
In the upside -own world of Liberals, Trump’s behavior of putting nation and its citizens first seems anathema because for the past eight years it didn’t happen. Now we have a president forcing corporations to create jobs in the U.S., and protecting our homeland against fanatics who want to kill us.
And Liberals are aghast.
You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried. Oh, wait, the liberal media did and does — it’s called fake news or Trumped-up hysteria about our 45th president, who is doing exactly what he said he would do.
