GOP candidate charged with assaulting reporter wins house seat

Despite ‘Body Slam’ Assault Charge, Republican Wins Montana House Seat

Republican Greg Gianforte won Montana’s only U.S. House seat on Thursday despite being charged a day earlier with assault after witnesses said he grabbed a reporter by the neck and threw him to the ground.

In a statement , the office of the Gallatin County sheriff, Brian Gootkin, said that there was enough evidence to charge the candidate, Greg Gianforte, with misdemeanor assault. Mr. Gianforte, is scheduled to appear in court before June 7.
