Jeff Bezos selected Dolly as the 2022 recipient of his Courage and Charities Award, as an individual who “leads with her heart.”
We’ve just announced a new Courage and Civility award recipient — @DollyParton, who leads with her heart, and will put this $100 million award to great use helping so many people. She joins prior awardees, @VanJones68 and @Chefjoseandres. Congrats, Dolly! pic.twitter.com/dzTuoGVp3G

“When people are in a position to help, you should help. And I know that I’ve always said, ‘I try to put my money where my heart is,’ and I think you do the same thing,” Parton said to Bezos when accepting to grant.
Parton tweeted that she would “do my best to do good things with this money.”
I try to put my money where my heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money ❤️ Thank you @JeffBezos #LaurenSanchez https://t.co/8RHh51z3jT

In 2020 Parton donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center for Covid-19 research, which played a role in the Moderna vaccine’s success.
Dolly gifts over 1 million free books to children every month with her Imagination Library. We’re unsure what she’ll do with the money from Bezos, but whatever she does, it will be good.
