Chicago teens who tortured disabled man on Facebook are denied bail

A Chicago judge denied bail for all four suspects involved in the Facebook Live torture of a disabled white man. Prosecutors said Jordan Hill, 18, demanded a $300 ransom from the victim’s mother.

Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; and sisters Brittany, 18, and Tanisha Covington, 24, are facing several charges against them for torturing a severely disabled white 18-year-old who suffers from schizophrenia and attention deficit disorder.

Attorneys for the suspects tried to argue for their bail by telling the judge about their background and family life.

The judge denied bail and asked the suspects: ‘Where was your sense of decency?’

In addition to hate crimes, the four were charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated unlawful restraint. Three were also charged with burglary. The bizarre incident began on Saturday, New Year’s Eve, when the victim and Hill met at a suburban McDonald’s for what both the teen and his parents believed would be a sleepover, police said.
