Bill and Melinda Gates have called it quits after 27 years of marriage. The Microsoft co-founder, 65, announced the news in a joint statement posted to Twitter on Monday.

The couple met in 1987 after Melinda became a product manager at Microsoft and were seated next to each other at a business dinner in New York City.
Their oldest child, Jennifer Gates, is 23 and preparing for her graduation from medical school at Stanford University. She is an accomplished equestrian and calls herself “a lifetime learner,” according to Mercury News. Their son, Rory Gates, is 20, and their youngest daughter, Phoebe Gates, is 17.
