Sharon Osbourne is not here for making revisions to “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” – she thinks it’s “ridiculous.”
“What would John Legend do, if in 40 years, if somebody wanted to, you know times change, re-record one of his songs, and there was some group that found it offensive, and somebody just went, ‘Oh, I can change the lyrics on that,’ ” Osbourne said.
The “Talk” co-host compared Legend and Kelly Clarkson changing the song’s original lyrics to someone looking at a nude painting in a museum and deciding to draw a bikini top over it.
Deana Martin, daughter to the famous crooner, slammed Legend’s rewrite of the classic in an interview with “Good Morning Britain” published Monday.
“He’s stealing the thunder from (original composer) Frank Loesser’s song and from my dad,” said Martin, whose father recorded a famous version of the 1944 song.
“He should write his own song if he doesn’t like this one, but don’t change the lyrics. It’s a classic, perfect song.”
